Luxury Bedding

Decorate and Innovate

When it comes to choosing bedding for your little girl, it’s best to ensure that she is involved in the decision.  We all know how little kids tend to resist going to sleep, but if your little one has a bed where they love to spend time, you’ll be amazed at how much more amicable they’ll be to going to bed when they’re told.  Choosing little girls bedding for your princess should involve selecting from the specifications you want (material, size, cost), and her selecting the style.  Whether it’s butterflies, ballet dancers, or teddy bears, make sure she likes it and you will be sure to benefit.  You should also make sure it’s something she will like for some time to come, not just a phase.

When you involve your little girl in the decision, she will also feel much closer to you and it can teach her about taking charge of her own life and making her own decisions.  It’s a great feeling to know your little one will be better prepared to identify her needs and likes in the future, and the synergy between the two.

Often when we’re younger, a twin bed suits us just fine because our bodies are smaller and don’t require as much space.  But as we get older, a smaller bed can be detrimental to our rest.  When people age, they tend to fill out; rare is it that someone has the same body type as they did when they were a teenager as they do in adulthood.  This doesn’t necessarily mean weight gain, but your body will start to gain weight in some areas and lose weight in others.  The process can be thought of more as weight redistribution than weight gain or loss.

When you reach maturity, your body requires more space to be comfortable both in size and in thought.  Sleeping on a smaller bed, falling off can often be a worrisome thought.  The reason we don’t fall off when we sleep on a smaller bed is because our minds become accustomed to that bed size.  However, with a larger bed you can spread out, move around, and be more comfortable.  Even choosing a full size bed with full comforters is better than a twin, and you’ll be amazed at the better quality of sleep!

Girl bedding

February 2, 2009

Decorating a room for a little girl is definitely a treat for both parent and child. It can even be a good bonding activity for the family. It is such a thrill to buy pastels and pinks for a little girl’s room. Here are some tips for a successful room makeover:

1. Incorporate what she likes into the basic design of the room. If she is into teddy bears, make sure there is a special spot for displaying her little pals in the room.
2. Make sure her bedding is comfy and cozy. Girl bedding is usually pastel or pink in color. There are those which also have prints of favorite characters.
3. Always keep in mind that little girls will grow up too, and they may change their favorites at the drop of a hat. Make sure you leave enough room for improvement.

Cotton sateen sheets

February 2, 2009

Sateen is a cotton, or sometimes rayon, fabric that is fabricated to mimic the texture of satin. Good quality sateen is mercerized to mimic a brighter sheen. Those which are made of low quality materials are only calendared to produce the same sheen, but it wears off after a few rounds in the wash. Sateen may be bleached, dyed, or even printed on.

This material is often used on bedcovers because of the luxurious feel that they provide. Cotton sateen sheets are very popular, even in many luxury hotels. This feel is produced through a weaving process which places the softer threads on top. Satin also uses this type of weaving process, but different materials, such as silk and polyester.

Teen girl bedding

November 19, 2008

The teenage stage is perhaps the most agonizing stage of all, especially for a parent. This is the stage is when a teenager wants to assert his or her independence in everything. It is also a stage when a teenager has to deal with issues such as pimples, crushes and physical changes.

A teenage girl may be torn between wanting to be accepted by her peers and wanting to please her parents. It is at this stage where she learns her individuality and deals with her self-confidence. The changes a parent can see may be in the little things, from wanting a new wardrobe to choosing her own teen girl bedding. The most a parent can do is to be an ally and a friend to a confused, awkward teenage son or daughter.

Sateen full sheets

November 19, 2008

Satin is a cloth that is silky to the touch and glossy. It is usually used in lingerie and evening gowns. It is a versatile fabric and can also be used in sports jackets and in upholstery.

Some people also prefer sleeping on sateen full sheets. Although cotton and polyester bedding materials are more popular, satin is also comfortable because of its softness. The fabric is smooth and makes for a good night’s sleep.

We may have a hard time imagining not sleeping in a comfy bed every night. And with our California king-sized beds and king comforters some of use may actually look forward to going to bed each night. But this comfort hasn’t been available for that long. The ancient Germans, for example, slept on beds made of animal skins and dried leaves. In the middle ages people took rest upon carpets spread out on the floor, or on benches up against the wall. They stayed warm by covering themselves with feather or wool-stuffed mattresses.

It wasn’t until the 13th century that metal bed stands began showing up in France. These stands were meant to keep sleeping people away from the rats and insects that make their nests on the floor. These metal stands were usually topped with feather or straw-stuffed mattresses.
